Sony Introduces Waterproof Mid-range devices: Xperia M2 Aqua

Sony has been making mid-range waterproof Smartphone since the Xperia Active, then the Xperia Go. But these mid-range waterproof Smartphones is missing at year 2013 and it seems like waterproof feature will only be featured in flagship devices like some other company does. 

However, this year Sony is bringing back waterproof mid-range device and it will be based on the existing Xperia M2 with the name of Xperia M2 Aqua which should help better indicating the device is waterproof. 

The phone will be built based on the existing M2 in terms of design and specifications. The only difference of the Xperia M2 Aqua has is the ability to play with water and might have a chance of getting one with LTE enabled. Sony claims the Xperia M2 Aqua was rated with the highest level of waterproofing available in a Smartphone at a rating of IP68 certification.

Sony Announces Xperia C3, claimed as world's best selfie Smartphone.

Other than Huawei who cares about Selfie shot, Sony also sees this as an opportunity during this Selfie generation and came out with their very first PROselfie Smartphone, The Sony Xperia C3 available in white, black and mint color which is suitable for both genders.

The Sony Xperia C3 is packed with a 5MP wide angle 25mm lens for its front facing camera and a rare soft LED flash support which is good for selfie especially when light is limited. This appears to be the first Android Smartphones that comes with LED flash for front facing camera. As for the regular shot, the rear camera is packed with a 8MP Exmor RS shooter also supported with LED flash. Other than the camera itself, Sony throws in pretty much beauty apps which allows you to retouch the photo by adding in different beauty effect, some extra fun frames, applying makeup and eye effects that look like you have applied some real makeup.

Sony knows that previewing your selfie shot is less fun with a small screen and matches the Xperia C3 with a generous 5.5" screen which is big enough for you to make sure everything in the photo is fine before posting them to your social network. Performance wise it was packed with a Snapdragon 400 quad core chipset clocked at 1.2Ghz which should be sufficient for average usage and paired with 1GB RAM that is enough for daily usage without heavy multitasking. With all these hardware packed inside, the Xperia C3 appeared to be a mid-range device that has been boosted with a capable selfie shooter. Juicing up the device is a 2500mAh Li-Ion battery which should bring you through the day without much issue, even it does the stamina mode should help to squeeze out every last drops of juice for longer hour. The Xperia C3 comes with 2 variants, the trending dual SIM version and single SIM version which comes with LTE connectivity support which is good for uploading your selfie shots.

Final words, would this device stand out of the crowd? Definitely yes. But how well does the Xperia C3 perform as compared to current capable selfie shooter like Huawei Ascend P7 which comes with 8MP front camera that features panoramic selfie (also known as "groupfies")? Now this is really something that worth to discuss for.

To make it simple we are going to compare the Sony Xperia Z2 with its predecessor Xperia Z1. First of all we started with its design, oh! they look almost the same! And yes, they applied the similar design of Z2 with the Z1 and the same IP58 water and dust proof rating that was rated to withstand 1.5 Meter depth of freshwater immersion for 30 minutes with condition that all flaps must be closed firmly. However, it still came with a slightly thinner profile and a larger screen of 5.2" as compared to Z1 that comes with 5" display. Underneath the screen it was packed with a faster processor of Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with 2.3Ghz Quad-core Kraits 400 processor and a Adreno 330 GPU that's best for gaming. Other than that, the RAM capacity has been increased to 3GB for much better multitasking.

The impressive 20.7MP G-Lens camera that came with large 1/2.3" sensor size found in Z1 remain unchanged in Z2 but with some additional tweak on its software. The Z2 is now capable to record up to 120fps video in 720p mode which means a slow motion video can now be recorded with the Z2 while maximum resolution setting for video recording has been increased to 4k at the rate of 30fps.

This device is now also came with stereo speaker which should be helpful to boost its loudness of the external speaker that was found to be weak in its previous waterproof models.

Sony Mobile going beyond Android platform?

You must have heard of many people looking towards Nokia to step in to Android platform, but have you heard of the news where they're so loyal to Android and have a plan in their mind to step in to Windows phone platform?

The News has been spreading around that Sony Mobile head for Europe, Pierre Perron, who spoke to TechRadar Sony has decided to extend its OS platform for its mobile to Windows phone devices, He quoted "We don't want to be a single OS manufacturer" how does that sounds? But however this is definitely not a new thing for Sony, they has been manufacturing Microsoft Windows platform phone like X1 with slide out qwerty keyboard previously and that is when they are still SonyEricsson, other than that before they have confirmed to focus in Android platform, they also have a few windows phone model kept in the rumor mill which is not confirmed. However, now it seems like they are interested to get back to windows platform again which was said to bring benefit to the company in long-run.

It was rumored that Sony's Windows platform phone will comes with the brand name of Vaio which helps ones to tell the differences of Operating system for its mobile (like Xperia for Android Platform). Let's hope the negotiations go well with a win-win situation for both Sony and Microsoft and we believe once the agreement is done Sony will make its way for their first Windows Phone shortly.
